We are in the process of trying to share our research with another relative that uses Family Tree Maker 2012 via a GEDCOM file. I had done some research both in this forum and on the Internet. There seem to be a number of issues, so I decided to take a small section of a family branch to see what kind of issues we will have.
The first area that showed up was in sources. I have found that in order for the sources to show fairly well in Family Tree Maker 2012, I needed to make some changes. So I have been making changes to the sources I have in Reunion and re-testing the GEDCOM file. Was getting fairly close. Made these changes last night.
This morning when I was checking my source again, many of my changes were gone... they were back to where had been originally. I had keep a detailed list of changes, so I can re-create them, BUT I need to find out what is happening before I tackle all of sources to make them work better to update Family Tree Maker 2012 via the GEDCOM file.
Most of the changes that I am make are to change the type of source from "Free Form" to some other type that is more specific.
Also, I have added a few new types.. sometimes these are getting lost also.
Anybody having any of these issues???
thanks
John
