    Field order

    Hello folks,

Perhaps I have overlooked something YET AGAIN, but I do not see a solution to this problem. It seems the more I use REUNION the more I am constantly amazed and confused by all it has to offer.

The current consternation is in the Events, Facts and Notes windows, where the order of the specific fields are not consistent from person to person. I do not believe I have changed any of them myself, but who knows? They are not alphabetical and seem to change order without warning. Having said that I have added additional fields to the notes window but only for a few individuals. Just how do I go about making them consistent for all people, with the exceptions of where I have added a field, which I would hope is last in line?

Any advice is appreciated, but PLEASE do not make me feel TOO stupid.

    Re: Field order

I don't know that I'm the best to answer your question fully, but I have personally tripped over the issue of adding fields in the edit person window that aren't reflected in the family view. And they will change in the edit person window from person to person in the way you set them for each individual person. For a person's unique setup in edit view, the fields need to be manually ordered, as far as I know.

You can also do global changes on what's shown in the edit person window by going to the Field preferences in the Reunion Preferences and adding, subtracting, and reordering fields in the default list.

For the family view, everything will be done according to the layout you have defined and selected for layout. A small nuance is that if you have multiple instances of a field in the edit person window (such as multiple birthdates), you'll still only get one value displayed in the family view even if you add multiple instances of the field to the layout. You can get around this problem by using Smart List fields in the layout.
