    Re: Quickbar

Same outcome here. It'll no doubt be fixed in a future update. In the meantime, if anyone does figure out a permanent fix, please share

      Re: Quickbar

A question for anyone seeing this: if you navigate to the person with the [[pt:X]] entry for a place, and open that person for editing, does the [[pt:X]] appear in the place field for the event in question (Birth/Death/etc.)?

If so, exit out of the Edit Person screen and rebuild caches using:

      File -> Rebuild Cache Files...

This should fix it. The problem here is most likely the result of editing entries in the Places sidebar while in the Events tab of the Edit Person or Family screen, and is a known bug. The simplest way to avoid it is to not make changes in the Places sidebar while in the Events tab of the Edit Person/Family screens.

If, however, the [[pt:X]] does not appear in the Events tab of the Edit Person screen, then this is some other bug we need to look into.

      Thanks!

        Re: Quickbar

        Hi Mark

Just checked my file. As previously mentioned by another poster, the last three lines of the popups appearing on my quick bar seem to relate to me as source person rather than the person in the quick bar. And the place names in the Events screen are appearing correctly.

          Mark-
I just sent you a copy of my family file which exhibits this Toolbar hover popup problem. I cannot make the problem happen with the sample family file.

The [[pt:X]] that appears in the Toolbar hover popups will TEMPORARILY resolve itself if one (1) clears all relationships from the family file, (2) quits Reunion, (3) relaunches the family file, and (4) adds relationships back to the family file. However, if you later (5) quit Reunion and then (6) relaunch the family file with the relationships showing, then the [[pt:X]] problem once again reappears in the Toolbar hover popups.

The [[pt:X]] does not appear in the place field for any events (yes I was in the edit mode).

            Sounds like a bug!

Also I see the same things as Byron - the issues always come back after attempting to fix.

Thanks for all this information. Now I am concerned. Why doesn't it happen to my Quickbar entries? What am I missing out on?

                Re: Quickbar

                I'm the same as Byron.

In edit person mode, my place of birth appears correct as it does everywhere EXCEPT in the pop up window that appears when I hover over a relative in the quick bar.
EG. My g grandfather, I see his name Robert George Eden, his relationship to me, then my DOB (shown correctly) but in bp (birth place) I see [[pt.1]] instead of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.

If I select Robert George Eden and have him showing in family view mode and hover over his name, I get a window that shows his name and that he's the g grandfather of me, then I see all his details, instead of mine, which in my mind is how it should be, not as it appears in the quick bar where it shows my details, with error for birth place.

IF for some reason the quick bar is meant to show my g grandfather, his relationship to me and then my details (even though I think this is odd) it shouldn't show my place of birth as [[pt.1]]. So there's definitely something wrong.

I've followed all the steps suggested by other people but I always end up with the same result.

I'll watch this space with interest.

As noted - it's not only that the [[pt:x]] appears in the hover on the QuickBar - it's also that the last 3 lines in the QuickBar hovers, for all people in the QuickBar shows the same information for all of them, AND it's the relevant information for the person who is the Source of the Relationships.

So in the screen shot I posted the

                  Birth
                  bp [[pt:1]]
                  Spouse and Children

lines show up identically for all people hovered over, and are the details of the person who is the source of the relationships. In my case the pt:1 is correct for the person.

Yep, I totally agree Roger, there are two issues.

Confirming that the [[pt:X]] does not appear in the Events tab of the Edit Person screen, so this is indeed some other bug you need to look into.

That's the case with my file, I have Sir Patrick Vaus marked on the quick bar as bp [[pt:152]] but I have no baptism info for him at all; see the attached.

What you're seeing is a different issue than what's reported in this thread. Rebuilding cache files as I mentioned should fix the issue.

In this case the "bp." stands for Birth Place .

Thanks, Mark, but I've tried rebuilding the cache, it's made no difference.

But oh yes, 'bp.' sorry, how stupid of me!!

Ok - could you send us an e-mail with your Family File (help@leisterpro.com)? We'd like to take a look at it here.
