    File security

As far as I know there is no way to Password Reunion. But, what I would like to know is if you have any advice on PW'ing individual files on my Sandvox Website. Is there a document protection I could use for various Family History Reports, etc? Has anyone else done something like this?

I want to put genealogy files on my site for various branches and protect them so only they and me can see them to maintain confidentiality.

Files could be saved to almost any format such as .pdf or just Word.

I could do this with some Adobe software (I think) but it's $20.00 month. Too steep for me.

    Thanks for any help.

I know nothing about Sandvox. Judging from from their website, this is for a Mac. On Unix systems, I have proctected directories using a combination of .htaccess and htpasswd. Since
the Mac runs OSX, a flavor of Unix, I imagine it can be done.

Try searching on "password protecting files on mac."

      Quote from http://www.karelia.com/support/sandv...g_a_site.html:

"Sandvox does not offer the ability to password protect a site. This is because such protection must be provided by the site's host. Sandvox has no control over an individual host's settings and so cannot set a password for the site.

However, your host may offer the ability to password protect the entire site or a portion of it. If so, this can usually be carried out using their web control panel (or similar feature). For full details, please contact your hosting company."
