Blank Forms and Not so blank

I have several files for my ancestors. One for Dad's side, one for Mom's side, etc. We all do.

Is the data complete? No, of course not. People pass away and we don't know it. People have babies and we don't know it. And on and on.

Is there any way to print the Blank Form with data in it? For example, can I print a BF for my late Uncle Fred and send it to his wife, Aunt Mary to "fill in the blanks"? I'm not hot on entering all that data by hand. My 2 typing fingers are already sore. How do I get info in the form?

Then if i had a form like that, the Internet allows me to send it to anyone for editing. Ohhh. Maybe they could send it back and the data could be cut and pasted or downloaded in. How good would that be??

That would be a really good asset to have in this software to my way of thinking. Of course, Mr. Leister may not think so. I hope he is listening

Does anyone know of there are forms of this type in Cyndi's List or elsewhere? I'm going to look there now and I'll let you know if I find something. Happy New Year.

See the Reunion manual regarding the questionnaire format for the Family Group Sheet (or the Person Sheet). Furthermore, for the questionnaire format to be most effective, you should also define and select a layout that includes all of your defined data fields.

After doing the above report set-up, you should be able to produce a resulting FGS that shows your known data plus all the empty fields that have no data.

    Merry Christmas!

I thought we had something there, but no go.

After several tries, I still get the same thing. As long as I have a birth date or death date, marriage date, whatever, in the records for a person, it shows in the FGS. If I don't have it, all it shows is the data I have. So if I need certain data from a relative, it doesn't make sense to print the sheet or email it to someone to "fill in the blanks". The blanks aren't there.

But I will accept other plans!!

All this means is that you haven't checked off the "questionnaire" radio button before printing out/saving your person sheet or family group sheet. I can assure you that after you've checked it off, you absolutely will get blanks to be filled in where you have no information.

Dennis- You've made it too easy <grin>. Nowadays I'm determined to make O.P.'s dig into the manual a little, which obviously many are averse to doing. <grin>

          Merry Christmas!

Re: Blank Forms and Not so blank

            Good morning,

I was up until midnight trying make it work. It didn't.

It would not print the blank headings.

This a.m I looked here for any new suggestions and I was aboout to send this message. I went in the file and ran off a copy to attach and guess what? It worked. Maybe it was off for Christmas.

One thing about the report. It messy, that is it goes from a son to a father to an aunt and then back to the grandfather, etc. Not necessarily like that, but you get the idea. But now that I have it in word, I can rearrange it to suit me.

I am much obliged. Also, I usually read the manual, but it's really not that siimnple to follow sometimes.

Thanks you all for the help.

I suppose I could refer you to the Reunion manual help page regarding sorting Family Group Sheets, but then I would probably be wasting my time.

Oddly enough, I was able to follow the directions you referred me to and did after several attempts essentially got what I am looking for, a report showing blanks that can be completed by someone else. So even though some of us aren't too smart, we can get it done.

However, perhaps you can tell me why one person has several blanks after their name, DOB, DOD, etc. and a sibling has none.

My best guess is that you have the privacy filter set so that information about living people is stripped from reports and charts. (Notice that the only sibling with data showing, and therefore with blanks showing, is the one who has a death date).

Thank you, Dennis! I finally got what I have been looking for. It looks as though it will do the trick.

I am much obliged to everyone who has helped me with this problem.

                      Thanks again.
