Export a GEDCOM File - Character Set

Bonjour,
I have to export a GEDCOM file which will be imported in Brother's Keeper software for Windows user. What character set should I use? I asked the question to BK's technical support and never had an answer ( it shows that their technical support is not to Leister's level ....) . I need to know before this coming thursday as I will be away without my computer.

Is there something else I should pay attention to? My friend is a neophyte in genealogy.

Probably the safest thing to do would be to export a couple of GEDCOM files - one using "Windows" for the character set, the other using UTF-8 as the Character set.

Send them both to the person with the note that if one produces odd characters, to try the other.

If you're going to do just one, my best guess would be to make a Windows file.
