    Place names changed

    I have recently come across three instances where place names were changed in my Reunion file after I entered them.

    The Marriage place of Aurora, Kane, Illinois was changed to Somerby, Lincolnshire, England for 12 people. Of 13 people in my file with the place of Somerby, only one was entered by me and it was entered as a birthplace. Somehow, Somerby was substituted for Aurora as the marriage place for 12 people. A total of 126 records in my file use Aurora, Kane, Illinois as a place name, but only 12 were affected by this change.

    Chicago, Cook, Illinois was changed to Saint Kilian Cemetery, Hartford, Washington, Wisconsin for 8 people. I entered Saint Kilian as the burial place for 2 people. Chicago, Cook, Illinois was used as the place for 74 other events in my file that were not changed to Saint Kilian.

    Minnesota was changed to San Francisco Co., California for 347 names in my Reunion file. Only 2 people actually had an event that took place in San Francisco Co., California. 27 other people in the file had an event take place in Minnesota but their records were not changed to San Francisco Co., California.

    Has anyone else ever encountered a problem like this?

    I use Reunion 10.0.6.

    Please try rebuilding caches using:

    File -> Rebuild Cache Files...

    And let us know if the places still remain incorrect.

    Thanks!

      Rebuilding Cache Files had no effect on the incorrect place names.

        Re: Place names changed

        Do you have a backup of your Family File from before the places names changed?

        If so, please send it along with your most recent Family File to us at help@leisterpro.com.

        We'll see if there's anything we can do to restore the correct place names using the backup.

        In the event you don't have a backup, please send a copy of your current Family File anyways -- we'd like to take a look to see if we can determine the cause of the problem.
