    Married Name

I have chosen to have 'married names; appear on the family page view for the children so I can easily determine which daughter's married name is what. This works great if there is only one marriage. However I can usually live with this except for the below.

I have an issue with one woman who was married, her husband died. She later had a couple more children with an unknown man whom she was not married to. She gave these additional children her late husband's surname and she used that surname the remainder of her life.

However instead of her "married name" appearing in the 'Married Name' column her maiden name appears. I find this very strange. The only way I can find to get Reunion to put her married name in the 'Married Name' column is by naming the second guy (unknown man who fathered her last two children) with the surname of her first husband and I feel that is just wrong. How can I fix this?

    Re: Married Name

    Hi Diane,

    Please try the following:

1 - Navigate to the woman in question.

2 - CTRL+Click on her name button and in the menu that opens go to the "Spouses & Children..." sub-menu, then select "Edit Spouses..."

3 - In the window that drops-down, click-drag her husband below the unknown man in the list, so that the unknown man appears first in the list and her husband appears second.

This should set her "Married Name" to her first husband's name.

That actually worked. Of course the men are now in the wrong order but at least I have her married name in the 'Married Name' column. Thanks.

Alternatively, if her first husband had the surname "Smith", go to her "Facts" panel, add a "Married Name" field, and enter "Smith" into it. No matter what order her partners are in, she'll show as Smith.
