Re: How do you show child as adopted?

I put "Adopted" as the status when the child is listed on the family page that has the adoptive parent(s). However, I also list the child with his/her biological parents (if I know who they are) and have added a child status of "Biological" through the Preferences, which I use there.
Hope this is helpful.Kaye Mushalik

Re: How do you show child as adopted?
Originally posted by jbastin View PostI have been working with a similar problem in my family tree. My question is, in your description here it sounds like you have created a second occurrence of the adopted child in your Reunion database. Do you actually create a second occurrence of the adopted child, or are you duplicating the child so there is only one actual individual in the file (which seems more correct, to me)? And do you then indicate the status of the child with the biological parents as "Duplicate" (apparently not, because you couldn't use two status indications in one record).
(In my opinion, the inability to assign a child more than one status indicator is a very annoying limitation of Reunion.)
Look up "adopted" in the manual. It (and the sections after "adopted") explains the whole concept and procedure. By following the procedure, you can add the child to multiple sets of "parents", indicate preferred parents and show different "child status" each time.
Hope this helps,

Actually it seems v clear [in Reunion 9], but I can't test it yet as my files is based on an 'official' family tree in which they are not shown at all, but I included them under their adoptive parents as it seems Reunion expects. Somewhere I know I have info about their true parents so for now the children's cards have the 'Help' pasted in for when the info re-surfaces.

Re: How do you show child as adopted?
Keep in mind that there's no way to add a source citation to child status information. Any information conveyed in a child's status should probably be duplicated in a note, event, or flag so that its source can be properly cited.Brad Mohr
