linking an unrelated person in an event

I have an employment event where I want to link the person employed to the person employing them (who is also in the database). Is there another way other than adding the PersonID into the memo field of the employment event?

Currently it is not possible to link a person to an event in another person's record.

This has been requested in the wish list section many times for years. FAN cluster research requires it.
