GEDCOM exports with photos

Is it possible to export a GEDCOM file with the photos? I didn't see it as an option.

Is it possible to export a GEDCOM file with the photos? I didn't see it as an option.

GEDCOM files can't include images as they're simply text files formatted in a specific way. However, they do include links to the images (file path and file name) when the "Include multimedia links" option (in the window that opens after selecting File -> Export -> GEDCOM...) is checked.

This means that if you send the original images along with the GEDCOM file, whatever application is importing the GEDCOM should be able to link up with the images once you tell it where to find them.

Thanks Mark. Since I'm putting the GEDCOM on Ancestry, I guess I just need to find out where to put the images on their site so that the links can be made. I'll look.
