    Link to spouses

In attempting to fix one problem, I have created another one and the problem is my personal file. I will not get involved in the old problem but I was in the file two times yesterday. I am in my Reunion file but am not linked to my Spouse # 1 or # 2. When I go to my family file, it shows me as not having a spouse BUT when I go to either #1or # 2, it shows them married to me with children, marriage dates, etc. all perfect. How can I straighten my mess out? I just need to get linked to them. ty

Before making any suggestions, please answer a couple questions...

    1. When you look at the family view showing you beside nobody, do you see a red V or a gray V in your name button?
    2. Is your name listed more than once in the People sidebar on the right?

Please let me know and we'll go from there.

    Thanks

Hi Deb, Thanks for your follow-up.
!, It shows a grey V and when I clink and get the drop-down option, it shows no spouses.
2, My name is only listed one time and when I click, it takes me to this page with no V. There were two at one time and I pulled one to clipboard and deleted it. I think that when I messed up!!

Based on this reply, it sounds like there is a linking problem in the family file. However, it may be something you can correct. Try removing the links between you and each of your spouses. Then, re-link your record to both of your spouses in the appropriate order. (I.e., go to the family view of each of your spouses. Then, drag each of the marriage buttons to the clipboard. Note: The marriage button shows the marriage date and place and is centered above you and your spouse on the family view.)

Afterward, go to your family view (where you are shown beside nobody), click the "+" above your name, and select the "Add Spouse from the Sidebar" option. Then, drag your first spouse onto your name button on the family view. Finally, click the Add button to add her as your first spouse. Afterward, you will need to re-enter the marriage date, place, etc. (You will need to repeat this part of the process to re-link your second spouse.)

If any part of this process does not work for you, I recommend that you send your family file to us. We should be able to correct the situation using an in-house tool and return the fixed file back to you. Information about how to send a family file to us can be found on this web page...

Be sure to include a note with the names of the people involved in the problem. (Note: as suggested on the web page above, we will keep any information seen in the family file strictly confidential.)
