I'm doing one-place-studies and have lot's of (historic) images of houses and locations. Although Reunion doesn't support multi-media for places, there is an alternate way to place the images in the notes section.
1) drag the image to your browser
2) copy the URL (e.g. file:///Volumes/......etc etc) from your browser to the notes section of places
3) if you want to see the image, select (highlight) the entire URL in the note section of place names and ctrl-click the URL
4) select "open URL" from the pop-up window, and the image will open up in your browser.
Additionally, you may want to copy-and-paste the sources "Preview" into the same field, so that you know it's source
Hope this helps
