    Recording Church Membership?

I recently came across some church membership records on Ancestry. These record the dates of membership of communicants who joined the church and late left. These are adult members who have sometimes transferred from other churches; in other words, these are not confirmation dates.

Do you record these dates, and if so, how? Do you create a custom field under events? Or do you just record this as religion under facts, and not worry about the dates?

    Suggestions appreciated!

Not sure there is a right or wrong way - it depends on what you want to capture. That said, if it were me and I was taking the trouble to record a church membership - I'd probably create a custom event and record the dates. This way you can keep track of what church or churches your ancestor was a member of.
