When I add a child to a couple the mother's date of birth drops the date and month and only shows the year in the report. If I delete the child the mother's DOB in full returns. Tried deleting all three and it always comes back to the same behaviour?

This is because the mother appears elsewhere in the report with her full details when she has a child linked to her -- when she has no child, she's only listed under her parents in the report, so her full details appear there. When she has c child, she's listed elsewhere in the report (with her child below her), and her full details appear there, so the entry under her parents is abbreviated.

OK thank you, that is logical but when I distribute reports you would not believe how many people complain back to me that I have not 'entered' all the DOB information and they resend to me all the DOB information that they believe to be missing !Comment

I forgot about this until just now, but you can change it to include the full birth date.
Go to Reports / Register and select Define Layouts from the Layout menu, then go to Miscellaneous in the list of Settings at center.
On the right, change the Birth & death dates for children... option to Full or Narrative, whichever you prefer.
