Another researcher wants to see the list of surnames from my file to find any we have in common. I can view that under Lists...but do not see how to export or save such a list so I can share it with him?

Under that listing of surnames is a blue Share button. (I.e., the blue box with the arrow pointing up out of it.)
If you use the Mail app for sending/receiving email, the easiest way to share the listing is to click on that Share button and select Mail as the Destination.
Alternatives would be to save the listing as a text file and attach that text file to an email or open it in your word processor and share it through your word processing app.
