    Sources template

Can someone help please. I have up 'til now been using Reunion 12 to record names & basic information only. Having decided to 'flesh out' the details I have immediately come across an issue with the 'sources' template. For date of birth, a birth certificate is to my mind the most fundamental source yet it does not appear in the template. Am I missing something?
Is it possible to edit or create your own sources template?
    Any advice would be appreciated.

You are confusing the "data about the individual" with "the data about the source". Birth date is a datum about an individual, NOT a datum about the source.

Think of "data about the source" as that information that would be needed by another researcher, now or in the future, to locate that source again to verify the "data about the individual", in this case the birth date. Birth date would be placed in it's own field, of course, properly referenced with the source number that Reunion assigned it when you entered the source information.

The default template for this would be the Vital Record template - that's intended to be used for things like birth and death certificates.

You can create your own templates via Reunion -> Preferences... , Sources, Templates.

Thank you both. That's made things clearer.
