Exporting to GEDCOM - which version?

I need to export a portion of my family tree to GEDCOM. The recipient intends to import it into Family Tree Maker version 19 (the latest version). In Reunion the default export is GEDCOM 4.0 however I noticed that GEDCOM 5.5 may also be used.

After considerable searching I have found absolutely no documentation or other info about FTM support for GEDCOM versions. Nothing even in the FTM 19 User Guide.

Given no info about FTM GEDCOM version support, would it be better to export to the older GEDCOM 4.0?

FWIW, I regularly get a revised Gedcom from a friend who uses FTM for Windows, It comes to me as 5.5
