Files renaming themselves.

In the last week when I open a family file in Reunion13 (using a MacBook Pro) the file changes itself to ".familyfile13".
I do not like this so I rename to the surname for example.
See images.
The renamed file is how I have always had them.
As soon as I open a family name it add the .familyfile13 gain and again. Why is this happening.
All other untouched family files remain without the .familyfile13 until opened.

Computer 101! All files, seen or hidden, system files, Windows files, Mac files, Linux files..... all files --- PERIOD! have a suffix containing a period, which is actually a separator, then the file type name. In most systems, you have the choice to see or hide the suffix portion.

In short, your files are not renaming themselves. only your intervention or in-app instructions can change the file type.

That said, to hide suffixes on your Mac, choose the Finder menu then Settings. Choose the Advanced tab and the first item is "Show all filename extensions" Uncheck the box to hide suffixes.

Thanks but my filename extensions is already unchecked so that's not the issue.
This is something new that popped up in the last week without any changes made by me.
Only change is that this problem started when Reunion wants me to update to 14.

Your file is not being renamed.

The familyfile13 extension is being hidden/shown in the Finder.
