Different text color in reports for obituaries

I am using Reunion 13. I have discovered that just recently when I do a family history report in Pages, some of the text color comes up in non-black, even though I have the Text Color set to black for the entire document. This seems to happen when I put in the obituaries from Reunion 13 — the color is a light violet which is not one of the colors in Pages.

Even though this is working right now, I would love to know why it did what I was having problems with, so I would know what to do the next time this happens.

Question... When the items were added to your 13 file, did you enter by hand or did you do a copy/paste from another document? I'm making a wild guess that if it was copy/paste that it may have been "with style" and brought color codes from the original.

By the way, any color your Mac is capable of is available in Pages. Bring up the Text Color panel and use whatever you desire.

It has never done this before. I've always did a copy/paste from another document and had no problems.

I am not using Reunion 14 and don't plan on upgrading.

OK. Here is some gritty detail. In most text documents, paragraph marks are more than a character. All formatting code for the sentence is attached, in deep hiding, to the paragraph character. The important thing to know about this with regard to copy/paste..... If your copy/paste includes the paragraph character, the formatting travels with the paste. If you stop short and don't include the paragraph character, the paste will adopt the formatting already present at the paste destination. (Note: This doesn't always apply to copying from a PDF due the way various PDFs pack their formatting code.)

Whether or not this affects your situation, I don't know. Including/excluding the paragraph character is something that I do frequently to speed up my work.

I have never used Version 13, but in Version 14 the Edit menu has an option to Paste as Plain Text (Option-Command-V). Perhaps this is available in Version 13 as well?

For many years I have used a little menu bar app called PopClip for Mac, which has a paste as plain text option as well as many other useful functions. It is no longer available on the Mac App Store, but can be found here: https://www.popclip.app

I have recently tried out Pure Paste, which is available from the Mac App Store (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pure-paste/id1611378436).
