    Relatives Sidebar problem

Despite dragging a Source Person’s button to the Relatives Sidebar and checking appropriate relationships in the Relatives Settings panel I cannot get any relatives to appear in the Relatives Sidebar. The sidebar displays the Source Person’s name at the top but no relatives appear below it. Equally Lists–Relatives only displays the Source Person’s name but no relatives. What am I doing wrong?

I am having the same problem, although it seemed like it worked properly when I did the upgrade earlier in the week.

I have since noticed that – having family files in Dropbox – this feature is fully functional with those family files via ReunionTouch on an iPad. It does not however work with the same files via Reunion13 on a Mini or a MacBook, although it does with the Sample Family only.

In the Relatives sidebar, click the Settings icon at the bottom and make sure All People is selected, then click Update and see if that fixes the issue.

Let us know if the problem persists/if All People was already selected.

        Thanks,

Marked People was selected. Selecting All People and clicking Update makes no difference. The relatives do not appear.

Tony and Susan, can you let us know what version of macOS you are running.

I am also running Catalina 10.15.7 on a macbook pro 16" which I bought in January this year. From the Relatives sidebar I selected the setting gear and All People is selected. No matter who I drag into the Relatives sidebar, or what name I choose using the Select button at the top, the results are always the same. A great big blank side bar.

I have solved this problem by the simple expedient of checking Blood relatives in the Relatives Settings panel – having been led to this by comparison with the settings for the Sample Family. Am I being a bit naive in suggesting this point should be emphasized?

Mystery solved, thanks to Tony! I just tried it and it appears that in the Settings list the first three items (all people, marked people, unmarked people) have small CIRCLES to check. I have mine currently set to All People. Below that are the options (Living, Blood, Half, Step, Spouses). They have small SQUARES to check.

I tried them all individually, and in combination. Living by itself gave me the same blank list I was getting before. However, marking any of the other squares, resulted in a full list of all relatives. Hooray! So, checking Blood, Half, Step, Spouses--separately or in combination--gives the expected Relatives list. Clicking Living by itself (not in combination with the other choices) returns an empty list.

I think the small distinction between the circles and the squares in the Include portion of the Settings Menu is a problem until you are aware of it. You have to mark one item from the CIRCLES area AND one or more items in the SQUARES area. However, if you only mark Living in the SQUARES area the process will still fail--or at least it does for me.

At any rate, thanks to Tony G for pointing this out. Now I can review Relatives to my heart's content!
