    Reunion 13 and my multimedia

Hi I have not maintaining my multimedia files on Reunion and just updated to Reunion 13. When I looked to see if I had any Multimedia files on Reunion 13, I see a list of file names and location all in Red. I see thumbprints for my files but not found in on my laptop. Red means they do not exist.
How would I go about deleting them?
How would I go about setting up a file system. Do I need to have a file on each person??
    I really need advice.

If you want to delete the multimedia items from your family file, you'll need to select them in the Multimedia sidebar (note: you can select multiple items in that sidebar using Shift+Click), then click the Remove Item (red minus) icon at the bottom of the sidebar.

Unfortunately there's no way to "delete all broken links" -- you have to go to each person/family and use the Multimedia sidebar to delete the items linked to that person/family.

The only requirement, as far as Reunion is concerned, is that all of the original multimedia files be stored somewhere inside your users Home folder (e.g. your Documents folder, Pictures folder, etc.) and that you don't delete them. Aside from that, you can setup whatever kind of filing system you'd like -- I'm sure there are other users who could give you some ideas.

One way to do this would be to export a GEDCOM file from the current Reunion file, and then import that into a new empty clone of the current file.

When you export the GEDCOM file, do NOT check the Include Multimedia links checkbox. This will prevent them being in the GEDCOM export and so they won't get imported into the new file.

This should work as long as you haven't done anything untoward in terms of creating new fields and not giving them GEDCOM tags.

If you're going to go this route, and remove all of the multimedia via export/import, I would not recommend using a GEDCOM.

Instead, simply create a new family file, close your current one, and use:

File -> Import -> Reunion Family File...

To import the file containing your data into the empty one, and uncheck the option to import multimedia. Note, though, that this will remove ALL of your multimedia (even ones that don't have broken links).

Mea Culpa - hadn't realised that this was an option when importing a family file - that will work much better than a GEDCOM file.
