Adding multimedia files to persons

I'm struggling with trying to add multimedia files to people. I don't want to have to go into each family file and drag the appropriate multimedia file(s) onto the persons photo place. What I'd really like to do is bring up a list of all the people in my family file (I can do this - using the "Lists" function) and have a multimedia box appear next to the name (I can't do this -at least I can't figure out how), a box that I can drag a number of my thousands of multimedia files into the list in the box. It would save me incalculable hours of work if I could do this.

So - powers that be - can this be done? If it can't, can you can you make it happen?
