    One person, two entries

I am trying to merge two entires for the same person. On one family file, she is the child, on the other the spouse. They have different ID numbers as I entered them separately before realizing they were the same person. This is a case of cousins marrying in the same village in the 17th century. I have tried merging, and adding existing spouse, but they remain as two separate people. How do I get her to be one person on her family card with her husband AND parents above?

I suggest you decide whether 'spouse' or 'child' is correct, and manually enter there any details from the other one that you need to keep, then delete the other one. To do this, first move that unwanted one to the clipboard, then delete it there. See Correcting Mistakes in the manual. The manual is found by going Help>Contents.

Thank you for your response. I must not have been clear enough. Both are correct. She is someone's daughter and someone's spouse. There is no mistake. When I was entering all the children (of whom she was one), I didn't notice that she already existed as a spouse on another card in my family file. Then I saw the two entries had the same birth and death dates and were in fact the same person. I need to attach her to both families as one person. I did a merge and she showed up on both sides, but then I wasn't sure what to do wit that panel. I clicked on an arrow and te merge window went away, but sge was still not linked to her parents AND her husband. What am I missing? I have very poor eyesight and may well have overlooked a button on the merge window.

I remember merging people in previous versions. You'd get something like "Are you sure x and x are the same person?" You'd click yes and be done.
Is the issue maybe having her entered twice? Should I remove her once (from her husband's card) as suggested above and go and get her as "Add spouse from the sidebar" (where she would still appear as a child) from her husband's button?

Resolved! I went back to match and Merge and tried a few things, and it worked!

Jolly good—sorry I got the wrong end of the stick.

If you are trying to merge two people who you know are the same but the names are rather different and dates are incomplete, you can "force" Reunion to merge them. Go to the Name field to the individuals concerned, and give them the same User ID - it doesn't matter what it is as long as it is the same. Then, when merging, tell Reunion to merge based on User ID, and it will happily merge the two people. Note that one of the names will be lost and will not be added as Alias or Nickname.
(For your sanity - after completing the exercise, remove the phony User ID...)
