    Handling Addresses over time

Hi I am curious how users handle addresses (residences) I know Sources can have a place associated with whatever Event happened there, but I am more interested in addresses where nothing much happens except life, so no source is quoted. I have relatives who lived in 5-6 different homes, and these currently clutter up notes Fields. Is there a better way?

PS same goes for people who have had multiple jobs ... how do you guys handle that?

    Thanks

    Hi David,

I have relatives who lived in 5-6 different homes, and these currently clutter up notes Fields. Is there a better way?
My personal way of entering this type of information would be in Events (specifically in a Residence event) -- in the Date field I enter the date range that they lived at the address in question (note: Reunion will require a Sort Date for date ranges, so it knows where to sort the event among other events), then usually I would enter the city, state, and country in the Place field and the house number and street in the Memo field. Of course, you could enter the entire address in the Place field if you prefer, but I like to put the house number and street in the Memo field as it helps when looking at the Places list -- the event will be shown with other events in the same city, instead of being its own entry in the list of Places.

PS same goes for people who have had multiple jobs ... how do you guys handle that?
Again, I would use Events here (specifically, Employment), with the specific job/employer entered into the Memo field, the dates in the Date field (obviously), and the city in which they were employed in the Place field.

I should note these are my personal preference and not an official method of entering the information (there's really no "official" way -- it's largely personal preference). Others may prefer different (and perhaps better) methods.
