creating a descendant report with male lines only

hi, i want to create a descendant report showing male lines only, so only the people with the same last name. For females, a mention of their marriage and spouse will do. Is this possible? The regular descendant report shows both male and female lines. Thanks!

This can be accomplished via marking -- go to the person that you want to be the source for the Descendant report in the Family View, then select Mark in the Navbar at left.

    Under Mark, set the options:

    Action: Mark
X Generations (set X to an appropriate value)
    Who: Male descendant line of..
of: [person you want to be the source for the report]
    Unmark Everybody First
    Mark source person

    Then click Mark.

Next, go to Reports in the Navbar at left and select the Descendant report, then check the option for Marked descendants only and create the report.

      Thanks, that’s perfect!
if i may another question: it seems that all marriages in my report are suddenly automatically marked as ‘civil’. Is there a way to remove that?

Hm, I'm not sure what you may be seeing here -- could you send a copy of the report to help@leisterpro.com so that I can take a look at it?

I want to create a descendant report of male only descendants of a 5th great grandfather of mine, and followed your instructions of 22 Sep 2021 to rikplomp, but the report comes out with only his male descendants in my own direct line (4 men). What I really want is a report of ALL his male descendants, not just my own direct ancestors of that name. I am only trying to share a simple chronological list of all his male descendants with a male friend of that surname to see if any of the male descendants of this one ancestor match the names of HIS male relatives of that name. Thanks.

Mark all of the person's descendants

            Then do a find for

            Person Marked = Yes
            and
            Gender = male

When you have that list, Unmark everyone in the family file and then mark those in the list - the male descendants of your ancestor

Now generate whatever report or chart you want and limit it to marked people
