Saving Font, Color & Field Preferences for Family View

Is it possible to save the font, color & field preferences for the Family View, Couple, Child & Parents and then be able to open a whole new file with those preferences?

I have set the fonts, colors and fields I like in my family file preferences and have saved that as an option to use under the family icon on the left column instead of Default, Standard, etc. However occasionally, I will start a mini tree for a friend but would love to be able to view it on my screen with my font, color & field choices without having to go in and reset all the colors, fonts and the fields I prefer.

When I start a whole new family file, it starts up with the default preferences and my saved preferences are not in that list. Is it possible to save my choices among the default preferences when I start a brand new family file?

    This is possible.

Open up the Family View Preferences window. From the list of Family Views give the family view with your color and font choices a unique name. Drag the view with your desired settings from the Family Views list to your Desktop, a file will appear on your Desktop.

Then open your other family file and open the Family View Preferences window for that family file. Drag the file from your Desktop into the list of Family Views.

Select the view that's been added to the list and you should see your custom colors.

      Thank you!!! Worked perfectly!
What a time saver to get it to look just the way I like it. Thanks again.

You can also create an empty Family File template that already contains all of your customizations, then use that template to create your new family file. To do so, choose File > Export > Family File and select no people, no sources, and no multimedia. The resulting file will be empty of content, but still contain all of your views, field definitions, etc.
