Combining family files into Reunion 13

When I began using Reunion about 30 years ago, I divided my early ancestors each into their own file. Now, I want to combine all those files (at least 10 of them) into one. I asked how, and printed out a manual and tried it. Now I have a great mess with many duplicates and triplicates, which make no sense. I have no idea how to fix this and will likely die before it ever is straightened out. I think it is beyond help, and I do not ask. I only want to vent my distress.

It sounds like you have already imported each of those family files into one main file. If that is the case, the next step would be to merge the duplicates/triplicates into one record using Reunion's Match and Merge People feature. Before performing a match and merge, I highly recommend making a backup copy of your family file and reading the manual chapter on match and merge. To access the manual within your family file, click on the "?" in the lower-left corner of just about any Reunion window (or choose Help -> Contents) and search for "match merge." (Click on the first search result: What is "Match and Merge?", Match & Merge People.)

If you would rather have one-on-one "live" help with this, I recommend reach out to us using the "Live Chat," which can be accessed by clicking on the blue "Live Chat With Us!" button, available on many of our web pages. However, I usually point people to this page...

...as the blue live chat button appears under our contact information when it is available. (I.e., if the live chat is busy or not available, a message saying so will appear.) Our live chat support hours run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Friday.

Also, once in a live chat, going into a screen sharing session is usually easy. A screen sharing session would allow the support person with whom you are chatting to see your screen and assist you in doing what is needed. (Naturally, any assistance provided would be with your permission.)

Another option would be reach out to us via email, both of which are shown on the web page above.

I hope you find this information helpful in deciding how you would like to move forward
