    Learning to use Reunion-13

All, First, a confession. I don't have Reunion (I don't even have a Mac). I'm the genealogy librarian at a public library and one of my patrons recently purchased Reunion-13 and asked me to help her learn it. I found a fairly useful video on Youtube (it addressed adding people in Reunion 12). Anyone know of others (adding sources, etc.)? Is there some way to access the manual without having the product? Thanks much for any guidance. Art

    Hi Art,

Thanks for being willing to help your patron with Reunion.

You can download a ZIP of the manual here:

Once downloaded, extract the contents of the ZIP and you should get a folder called Reunion 13 Manual, open that and you should see a file called manualcontents.html - double-clicking on that will open the Contents page of the manual in your web browser, and you can access the manual from there.

Note that you will need to extract the contents of the ZIP for it to work properly. If you're on Windows, right-click on the ZIP and select Extract All. If you simply double-click on the ZIP in Windows, it won't actually extract it and the manual won't work right (missing images, formatting, etc.).

        Mark,
Can I put the manualcontents.html file on my iPad to use it with Reunion on my iMac? The reason is when I use it via the Help Menu it opens on top of the Reunion window. The only workaround I've found is to reduce the size of the Reunion window to half screen width so I can view BOTH R13 & the manual at the same time. Since it is better to run R13 at full screen width, I'd like to have the manual on an iPad on my desk in front of me so I don't have to keep resizing my R13 window.

You would need to put the entire Reunion 13 Manual folder on the iPad in order to access the manual, the manualcontents.html file is just the Contents page.

However, I'm not sure if that would actually work as a way to access the manual. I ran a quick test here and could not get the iPad to take me to the different pages via the links on the Contents page. Note that I was uploading the manual to my iCloud and accessed it via Files on the iPad. There may be some other method I'm not aware of that works.

Also, the search feature of the manual in Reunion on the Mac would not be available.

I figured that I would use one of the web browsers on my iPad: Bravo, iCabMobile,Opera, Safari. I'll see if I can add the folder via iTFS. If it doesn't work then I'll have to create a proper PDF.
