    Sharing my files

I intend to purchase a copy of Reunion 13 for my daughter for Christmas. When she has installed the software, how do I give her my file? thanks.

You can either send her a gedcom or send the larger familyfile. If, as most do, have a size limit for eMail, I have used WeTransfer with great results. Large files and FREE!

Another option, if you also use Reunion Touch and Dropbox, is to send her a link to your Family File in Dropbox. Since it's not attached to an email, there is no size limitation.

And if the file is too large for email or such, go old fashioned and use the tennis shoe method. e.g. Copy the family file to a thumb drive and give her the thumb drive to copy to her Mac.

Maybe! My using the tennis shoe method predates the invention of thumb drives by years. In the late 1980's, my employer, a large California state agency, got several Phillips PC's with the intention to replace a Wang word processing system. Someone told the big boss that Bob had computers at home. I got tapped to implement that project and went on to grow with the job. When I retired in 2002, I was managing desktop support for approx. 1100 PCs, Macs and special system spread over 87 locations. First Mac at work was a IIcx; first at home a IIsi. At the time, everything at work was either ethernet or tennis shoe.

Still another option is to text (iMessage if both are Apple devices) her the GEDCOM. You can usually text much larger files than email.
