Find and Replace on Citations for Sources.

I have found that you can do a find and replace in sources... but how do you do it with Citations? I just found out I'm spelling something wrong that's on many citations and want to fix it to the proper family spelling. Is there a Find and Replace option that will work in Citations? I have tried about everything no luck.

    Thanks

Can you provide an image. To me the Citation is the number you put next to a fact that tells the source you got the fact from. If there is a misspelling in the source for a particular citation (number) then open the source window by double clicking it in the right side bar when sources are listed, then correct the spelling.

Have you tried choosing Find > Find & Replace and selecting these options...
Replace all occurrences of: <incorrect spelling>
      With: <correct spelling>
      Type: Any
      Where: All Source Fields
      How: *Whole words only

Then, click "Replace...," and "Replace" again.

I hope you find this information helpful

The main source is easily corrected... I use one source for each census year and put the rest of the citations in the detail field... so in the database there are sources and then citation entries attached to the sources. My misspelling is in the detail field... not the source fields. If only it were as easy as editing the source's fields in the source list.

          Deb,

Always love hearing for you I hope you have a great Christmas.

I have tried this and for some reason it does not edit the citation details... that will do pretty much everything else.

          Thanks

Yes. I was not aware you were attempting to do this in the Citation Detail field. Find and Replace does not cover that field.

However, try this method of locating each of the records with the misspelled word in the Citation Detail fields...
Choose Find > Advanced Find and select these options...
            Citation Detail > Person ... Contains ... <incorrect spelling>
            Then, click "Find..."

At the bottom of the Results sidebar, click the "t28" icon to show citations for the results in the "List - Citations" window.

Then, make the appropriate change in the Citation Detail field for one source.

Afterward, select/copy that correct text and paste it into the Citation Detail field replacing the incorrect spelling for the others in that listing.

This method will require a bit more work. However, it will ensure all Citation Detail fields have been corrected.

I hope you find this to be a viable alternative
