Find Relationship

I only have one island in my tree but have discovered I cannot find a relationship between families of the same name(s).

If there was no link I would have thought the family concerned would show up as an Island but they don't.


In the past I have annotated a family so I can see who they are connected to, but currently I cannot find

this new family who to or where they link up .

I have tried the "find relationship" route without success.

Anyone have ideas?

Have you selected someone as the source and selected "Find Relatives"? This is different than Find Relationship.

Find Relationship finds relationships between individuals, not families. It mostly follows blood relationships.
Islands are connected by both blood relationships and marriages. Consider an individual A, who has been married to B and C. The three individuals are in one island, but B and C are not related.
Your two families probably have some marriage connection, so they are in the same island, but no relationships exist between any pair of individuals from each family.
