    Media Attached to Events

Here's an example of attaching a Media item to an event, and then using GEDCOM, transfer that to TNG (and how I wish I could paste an image directly in to this post like other forum softwares allow...)

Showing the media in Reunion Edit Person screen

and then how it appears in TNG.

Hooray!!!! Now I guess I get to redo the hundreds of such media I've linked to the person and not the event up until now...

I must be slow, but I don't see the difference between that and just putting the media in the Source and attaching the source to the event.

Moving media linked to a person (referred to as General Media in Reunion 14) can be done in a few simple steps...

Right-click (or control-click) on the thumbnail for the media item in the Media Window or in the Media Sidebar and select the "Move to" menu item.

Then, select the desired field from the "Move to" submenu.

This will move the media item from the General media section to the selected field.

Because for my purposes of recording things in Reunion with the pretty much sole purpose of getting it displayed in TNG on my website, it puts the media right on the person page, not buried away attached to a source - although I do also link the media to the source.

Thanks Gregg - that will be useful once I figure out exactly what to change about media.

For me, it's a BIG deal. I am a source lumper. So, that means that, in Reunion, I cannot attach media to my sources and,. before version 14, could only include media in a person's multimedia window. My 1900 source, for instance, has 943 citations to different locations and households!!!! That's why I cannot link media to sources Besides, this is a feature that every other app I'm aware of, has available. Hope that helps you out.

Thank you both, Roger and Kathy. I think Roger's qualification "Because for my purposes of recording things in Reunion with the pretty much sole purpose of getting it displayed in TNG on my website" says it all. I am not a source lumper like Kathy and I don't us TNG like Roger, so those reasons really don't apply to me.

I may use the new feature, but sparingly. Only for things that are not sources for information that can be put into fields like census images (like a photo of my dad's childhood house). Maybe it is because I approach my project as genealogy (proving or disproving relatedness) rather then family history for nice display.

Haven't upgraded yet - but wondering if there is the ability to display media attached to events in web projects/reports? Didn't see examples as part of the updates.

It doesn't seem like the media attached to an event is shown with the event on the web card about a person. It is shown on the Media page.

Well, that's disappointing. I would think that would be the purpose of attaching media to an event is so that you could output for the web/reports. Hopefully, the folks at Reunion will consider this in an update.
