Media with multiple people - Feature request

When I assign a picture to two different people, it is imported twice. i.e. if I assign a picture to person 1, enter comments for that picture, then duplicate the picture to person 2 the comments are still there, but if I modify the comments of either one, it is not reflected on the other. This indicates the image file appears to be duplicated.
I would like to suggest a way that photos/images/documents could be added to a "library" and then tagged with whoever it should be associated with it. That way, the comments could just be updated once and it would be reflected where-ever it is referenced.

I'm not sure if I fully understand your request. However, for example, I make a list of baptisms etc. (eg. extract copies of baptismal entries into date order) and give a title with an index/name etc. and format** it to a .jpg. I can then drag that document to all the names listed and file that away to my ancestry records folder.

There is only the one document but shows up in the media window to all I have copied it to.

What I like about it is that I double click on the image in the media window and it opens. Right click brings up a small menu where I can reveal in the finder the original document.

** My mac is set up to download images in the .png format where I find it very easy to delete items not required, annotate and markup etc. When complete I export to .jpg before adding to Reunion and my folder.

could this method be of help?

This would have to be carefully considered. Synching data across all links for a given inode number (the media file's unique ID) could be helpful in some cases and disruptive in others.

There are many examples where the best (or only) image I have for a relative is in a group photo. I link the uncropped photo to the family section, edit the description and comments, then drag copies to each individual I want to include. There I crop to their portrait and change both the description and comments accordingly. I would never want a change in one of these to affect the others.

Perhaps there could be a button in the media window to trigger a synch for the selected file ID, but if the process were automated I think it should only act where all instances of that file still have matching descriptions, comments, and cropping coordinates (i.e., we have been keeping them identical).

In Reunion, you are not cropping. You are simply masking the photo so that you only see one person from a group photo. The photo itself is not edited.
