    Renaming Media

    Hi,
I have a piece of Media in my tree and when you look at the name it is 792104. Import from Heredis.
This media is connected to several people.
Can l rename this media within the program or do l rename it in the folder that contains it and will the program pick up this change?
    Cheers
    John

My experience is that Reunion picks up the change when the name in the folder is changed. The media files must be rebuilt. By changing the name in the program, the original name remains in the folder.

It is important to distinguish between the File and Description fields in the Reunion media window.

A file's name is set in the Finder - as you have saved it in the folder where you store it. It consists of the full path (trail of folders ending with the leaf name, aka file name), and this is what shows under File in the media window when you link it. Connections such as the Reunion media links or the "Open Recent" option in most programs track files by their unique IDs, not their names, so changes you make in the Finder are automatically updated in the programs. The File field cannot be edited.

The Description in Reunion's media window defaults to the file's leaf name when first linked, but aside from that the File and Description fields do not affect one another. The Description field can be edited and can be customized for each person connected to that file.
