    Occupation that is in Events

In the GEDCOM I originally imported, occupations were in ‘Facts’ (from FTM) but imported into Events in Reunion. So I don’t see any occupation for the family view person. Is there a way to change this globally or will I have to do them all manually? And in the future, when importing a GEDCOM that is based on an Ancestry tree via FTM, is there another place to put ‘occupation’ that will show on the family fire page.

Take a look at Reunion menu ------> Settings (or Preferences) ------> Fields ------> Move tab.

You can select a field there to move to another field.

Make a copy of your family file before you do anything and see if it's successful.

Nope.. that doesn't work - I used an old family file to experiment so I haven't messed up my current one. What I want is to get the occupation in the Family View for a person. That is one of the preset Facts fields along with Education and Religion. But when I moved occupation from the events field to the fact field, it still doesn't show up on the Family View page. If I click on occupation it goes to Facts where a second occupation field has been created. Hmmm.. There has to be a way of filling those preset which is automatic. I'll have the same problem when I come to moving the education Fields. Thanks for your suggestion anyway. It's made me realise that I'm confused about fields in general. The trouble comes when importing stuff from Ancestry which uses different fields. If they don't match Reunion fields then everything goes into Miscellaneous Notes. At least I haven't lost anything but .. I'm going to spend some time reading through the help files.
        Thanks again, Jane

Hi, I don’t think so but thanks.. it’s about control over where information goes when it is imported. But I’ve found an old post which explains it. Thanks for trying

I searched pre defined fact fields in the Forum and came across an old post from Deb at Technical support dated 15 Aug 2022 re OCCU handling on import from Ancestry. That’s exactly my issue so I shall follow her instructions. I thought I’d post this in case anyone else is have the same issue.
sorry, I would link to the original post but I don’t know how!

                Here's the original

When importing through GEDCOM from Ancestry, the occupation of my grandfather, "Coppersmith, gas station owner", comes in as a a Note with the title "*New [OCCU]." Is this a bug? (Is it different in Reunion 13?) I have seen references to folks being concerned with OCCU coming in as a different Fact called

Thanks Roger..I'm sure that will help others.. I should have searched the forum perhaps in the first place, but I hadn't quite formulated a good question!
