    Gedcom specifications not followed?

My genealogywebsite (geneaologieonline.nl) keeps sending me warnings that you are not correctly implementing the Gedcom 5.5.1 specifications, which makes me lose information. I should ask if it is possible to use version 7?

Have they demonstrated that you are in fact losing information?

I can export my fairly customised Reunion 14 file by GEDCOM 5.5.1 to my TNG site and not lose anything apart from Child Statuses.

Also - Reunion 14 does export GEDCOM 7 files. Have you tried that?

When you export a GEDCOM, there is a dropdown for you to select a version, e.g 5.5.1 or 7.0.

When you import a GEDCOM, Reunion will follow the standard tagged in the imported file.

Don’t worry about such messages from 'Genealogie Online'.

Lots of people who upload a gedcom to this site will receive this strange and idiot message.
Suppose you are from Holland and speak and read Dutch: then take thae look at the site of Aldfaer with lots of messages about 'gegevens verlies' when uploading to 'Genealogie Online'

I have only now seen that I may choose the format at export. What happens if I choose 7 now after having used 5.5 for years?

That depends entirely on what/where you are exporting your data to.

If it's for your website, give it a try and see what happens.

Also has the warning you're getting proved to be true - are you actually losing information, or is this as Cees says, just a "strange idiot message"?

Probably a good time to audit and review your GEDCOM tags in Reunion.
