Family file size 0 on iPhone

    I always:

    a) upload a COPY of my Family File to Dropbox
    b) Select that file from Dropbox, the iPhone sucks in the update file
    c) I give it plenty of time to "release" the file on DB

Lately, after copying the copy to Dropbox and selecting it on the iPhone, it does loading (I guess), but then opens a blank Family, and the file size shows as "0" in the list on Dropbox. It is unrecoverable at that point.

I end up deleting that 0 file on the phone, and download a "fresh" version from DB. Then I have 5500 people again.

Once or twice would be annoying enough, but it has done it 3 times this week. iPhone is 18.1.1 (but this was happening with iOS 17 and Reunion 13 versions)

The ORIGINAL familyfile needs to be in the Mac's Dropbox folder, not a copy or even an alias. Please delete all "copies"; they are not needed and could actually fool you into making additions & corrections to the wrong file.
As a matter of convenience and expediency, I put an alias of my familyfile(s) on the right side of the dock.

On your ReunionTouch on the iPhone, delete all file(s) and re-download.

I absolutely do not want my phone changing my Master file on the Mac. (that just seems madness to me). I am fine with the phone seeing a copy of the Master, that can't edit it. I've been doing this without issue for over 5 years. This behavior is new.

I guess the file that Mac copies to DB is correct - after I delete the instance on the phone and reload It, it is fine. It seems to be an issue with Touch opening a fresh copy. After I reload it, Touch has no problems opening it again, it's only after a new copy is placed in DB. Previously, Touch would open the fresh copy to my people, then seconds later, say it was updating, then open with the new data. As if it is the "updating info" part it has trouble with. The Touch instance just show 0 file size.

It does not do this every time.

You shouldn't "place a new copy in DB" - you should work on the copy in DropBox, and the changes you make there will automatically transfer to the copy on your phone.

If you don't make any changes on the phone, then no changes will be sent back to your Mac - even though both of them are working on the same file that lives in DropBox.

I’m not going to update the Mac Family and the Family on DB. I simply don't trust the whole "back editing" thing. I just want to see my Family on the phone, that has no connection to the Master on the Mac. I think that should be a switch somewhere, but Reunion doesn't want to do that. I change my Mac Family, and copy it to "Family Copy" on DB. That has worked great for over 5 years. Something has changed. I have trouble believing Touch is having trouble solely because it's a Copy - I think it would do this even if were a copy of the Master, and not "Master Copy"
