proposal for a more useful toolbar in ReunionTouch

I use this app extensively. The design is that there is one active tool, whose icon is shown second from the right, and you can change the active tool by choosing the hammer, last icon from the right.
For me, I constantly have to switch between the People tool for searching names and the Tree view, which is the main way that I want to navigate. This requires constant round trips to the hammer to change tools.
Meanwhile, there is a ton of toolbar real estate available, even on an iPhone, where additional tools could be located:

But that space is unused.
There is not room for everything here, and people will vary in what they prefer to be there. But there are still easy solutions here:
1) let the user select, in Settings, which one tool they'd like to always be visible in the toolbar's new fixed "slot"
2) this is even better: simply display the most recently used tool in this new location. That makes it trivial to quickly switch back and forth between two tools, as I described above, and like many people likely do.
This would be a huge productivity boon. Of course, this benefit is available just by adding one more toolbar button. It's conceivable that several more buttons could fit on that toolbar.
