Dropbox Folder Location (Nov 2024 Edition)

    Hi Friends:

I know most of us remember all the headaches when Apple moved cloud folders like Dropbox under /Users/name/Library/CloudStorage. Then we updated our paths and got on with our lives.

Today, I'm setting up a new M4 Mac mini with Sequoia 15.1

When I installed Dropbox, it put the Dropbox folder directly under my username (alongside Downloads, Documents, & Desktop).

Did I miss something. Has Apple relented on putting clouds right under the username?

Is there a "best" place to put my Dropbox folder. I want it to be the same on both systems.

To each their own. My Dropbox folder resides in Documents and an alias on the desktop.

If you used the Migration Assistant, it would have put the Dropbox folder in the same spot as the old Mac. I migrated from a 2019 iMac to a brand new M4 iMac and that is what happened.

        Thanks Bob White

I debated about migration assistant. Still, I'm surprised the folder went where it did. As I recall, Apple was pretty adamant about forcing those folders to be relocated under CloudStorage.

As is often the case, I guess the most important part is to be consistent.
