    Default pdf Application Query?

Not strictly anything to do with Reunion but I am at a loss how to do this and thought the combined knowledge of the Renuion community might well be able to help! I am using Mac OS 10.8 and Safari as my browser. I have a lot of pdf's that when I want to view them the default Apple application 'Preview' opens, for various reasons I would much prefer the default to be Skim, (http://skim-app.sourceforge.net) but I can't find a way to make it the default. The best work around I have so far is to import the pdf into Devonthink Pro and then open it from there using its menu command 'Data>Open With'. This is fine but I would like to be able to open pdf's in Skim straight from my desktop. Anyone any idea how to do it?

    Cheers.

Pick any .pdf file, highlight it in the finder and do a "get info" (command-i).
In the window that opens, you will see a pull-down menu labeled "Open with:"

It probably now says "Preview". Use it to select "Skim". Then press the "Change All..." button to tell the Finder you want to use Skim to open all .pdfs in the future.

Close the window. Now Skim is the default application that will be used to open .pdfs (until you change the setting again).
