Hi, I have happily been using R10 and today decided to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. It seems to have gone ok but I cannot get Reunion to open any of my files although I can see them in the finder. I have removed the icon in the dock and opened R from apps and then gone file -> open and it does not show any choices. I have gone to where I can see the file I want and clicked on that, R opens but nothing comes up.

Any suggestions please.

The first thing one should do after any major update is to run Disk Utility to repair disk permissions. Often when your circumstance is encountered, it stems from a permissions problem.

In the Applications folder, open the Utilities folder then start up Disk Utility. Choose the First Aid tab. Click on Repair Disk Permissions and let it run. Depending on how much you have on your Mac and how long it has been since it got this type of attention, it can take anywhere from several minutes to as much as 30 minutes. It wouldn't hurt to restart the Mac after doing this.

As I recall, when Mountain Lion first came out there were some problems because the default setting of Gatekeeper is to allow only applications downloaded from the App Store or signed applications to be run. And I think the first version of R10 wasn't signed.

So I would try one or two things:
[1] make sure you have the most recent version of R10 (it will be signed)
or
[2] *right* click on the R10 application, then select "Open" and you will be able to open it, bypassing Gatekeeper
or
[3] change the Gatekeeper setting to allow it to run programs from everywhere. (System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.)

From my experience, you only need to run a 'blocked' program once with the 'General' setting, then that version will always run with the setting returned to "Mac App Store and identified developers". Caveat : if the version changes, then the "General" setting may need to be used again, but still only once, thus preserving the Gatekeeper security.

Hi, thank you both so much for your help - I actually feel a bit stupid :-( !!
I have recently started working with another monitor attached to my MacBook and when I turned it on (with R active) I found everything showing on the other screen where I must have previously been using it.

Now I just have to upgrade Quicken and hope that works, then everything will be great!
