    Thanks for offering your suggestion,

You have had a better suggestion from John Leggett, so if you can, go for it!

But to clarify: SheepShaver is an application that will create a virtual Classic Mac environment in which you can set up a (nearly) full System 9 with any applications that you might wish to run. It's very similar to running Parallels with Windows on a Mac - an emulation. Up to Leopard, Rosetta did even better than this, but unfortunately it was left behind when Snow Leopard appeared.

Setting up Windows with Boot Camp is NOT an emulation, BTW.

Basilisk will do the same for System 7.5.

Sorry about commandeering the subject matter, but since John brought up using a system 9 on an OSX 10.x, I thought I could sneak in a question about Appleworks. I have some work that I did in Appleworks, and while I thought I had backed up everything in Mellel, it turns out that I did not. Is there some way for me to open the Appleworks articles and save them into something that my OSX 10.7.5 can read?

TIA for any suggestions and help!!!!

If they're word processing documents, Pages can open them.

Thanks, Tim, but I do not have Pages on my computer.

            Re: PaperPort scans

Now that this thread has gone off the original topic, is there anyone who has experience in opening old PaperPort files on a mac running OS X 10.6.8. I have a few suggestions but so far nothing has worked.

            Thanks,
            Frank

You can also open AW WP files with TextEdit. The formatting is lost and there's a lot of garbage on the top and bottom of the file, but you can cut and paste the valid content into your word processor of choice.

Thanks, Tim! I will give that a try!
