placing ePub book on iTunes

If I put an ePub book on iTunes and then sync it to read in iBooks on the iPad does anybody know if that ePub book would be available for public download and use, or would it be solely for my own use in iBooks.

By the very act of putting the book on iTunes does it make the book public property ?

I have tried Google searching for the answer but cannot seem to find exactly what I am wanting to know.

No, the ePub book is only uploaded to the iBooks app on your iPad -- it is not shared with others.
