    Synchronization between Reunion and TNG

I am trying to resolve a problem that has caused database corruption on my TNG site. I use Reunion 10 to upload gedcoms. My TNG site unfortunately has more current data than does Reunion, which I believe is the cause of my problem.

In December, my hard disk on my Macbook crashed and I had to have a new one installed. I reloaded my Mac software and files. Since I hadn

As advised on the TNG Users List, you really should think about making Reunion your point of ALL data entry, including the linking of media items, and then export a GEDCOM file to TNG that will include media links. See this article I wrote on the TNG Wiki

which explains how I keep Reunion and TNG media synchronised.

It will take some effort to set up correctly in the first place, but will be well worth that effort in the long run.

I went through this as soon as Reunion 9 was able to support exporting media links in a GEDCOM file and it has made my life much easier.

      Roger,

I read your clearly stated explanation in the TNG Wiki; and your state that subfolders is fully supported. So do I need to create the exact same subfolders that I have for Reunion in TNG? I have many subfolders for the Reunion side of this linking process and was just trying to be lazy on the TNG side unless it is absolutely necessary. I think I know the answer but just hoping that I do not have to do what I think I will wind up doing. (sorry about the construct of that last sentence)

I follow the multiple path set-ups for TNG.

To set Reunion up for TNG you must have the top level set of folders as shown in the first screen shot.

Once you have that in place, you can have sub-folders in any of the folders in that arrangement to divide the major categories - so for example in my photos folder I have

ephemera (things that don't fit in the others)
headstones (not all the headstones, but pictures of people with the headstones of their ancestors for example)
        people (pictures of people)
        places (pictures of places)

and in the main "headstones" folder I have that divided into

Country, then each of them by County.

Once you have it all set up for Reunion, then simply use an FTP software to synchronise/mirror the Reunion setup to your TNG site.
