I am attempting to upload a web project of 306.9 MB (39,582 files). I have established one domain name with Simply Hosting, but it turns out Simply Hosting uses FileZilla which will not transfer folders, and manually transferring 39,582 files is impossible (Simply Hosting support gave up). Can anyone recommend an FTP program that will transfer folders rather than files, or an ISP that uses such a FTP folder transfer program.

Re: File Transfer Protocol
I'm a big fan of Panic's Transmit, but you may not need it. I just downloaded FileZilla and tried transferring folders to several of the servers I use. It worked just fine every time. Perhaps you're using an older version? The latest version available on the FileZilla site is 3.7.3.
Alternately, you could compress the folder into a single file, transfer that, then use Simply Hosting's cPanel interface to extract the archive on the server side (look for the Extract button in the toolbar of cPanel's File Manager). Chances are, this will be quicker, too. It's almost always faster to transfer a single large file than thousands of little ones. Even factoring in the time it takes to compress and extract, I suspect you'll come out ahead.

I now have the newest version of FileZilla. Does Simply Hosting/FileZilla want flattened or unflattened web output? Web Project>Web Preferences>Reports>Flatten Web Output?David Moody, USA
